2 · Availability & booking

All discounts are subject to availability at the time of booking. Blackout dates (for example peak holidays and full moon parties) may apply at individual hostels.

Discounts must be applied at the time of booking and cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.

3 · General restrictions

• Subject to change: all codes, discounts and offers are subject to change or withdrawal without notice.
• No cash value: discounts cannot be exchanged for cash or credit, or transferred to other guests.
• Non-combinable: this offer cannot be combined with any other promotions, vouchers or agent bookings.
• Right to modify: the Network and its participating hostels reserve the right to amend, suspend or revoke these discounts at any time without prior notice.

4 · Cancellations & house rules

Standard cancellation policies and house rules of the specific hostel you are booking into will apply.

  Philippines

  • I acknowledge that under Philippine law the use, possession or distribution of any illegal drug is strictly prohibited and punishable under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165). Mad Monkey staff are authorised to report any suspected illegal activity to local authorities without prior notice.
  • I agree to comply with all local health, safety and government-enforced protocols.

  Cambodia

  • I acknowledge that drugs are illegal in Cambodia and penalties are severe. Mad Monkey staff are authorised to report any suspected illegal activity to local authorities without prior notice.
  • I understand that local law may impose fines or penalties for public disturbance or misconduct, and I agree to behave respectfully towards local customs and cultural sites.
  • I accept that driving a motorbike in Cambodia without a valid licence and insurance is illegal, and I am solely responsible for compliance.
  • I agree to comply with all Cambodian public health measures during my stay.

  Thailand

  • I acknowledge that, except where specifically legalised, the use or possession of drugs in Thailand is illegal. Marijuana use is subject to strict local laws and Mad Monkey prohibits its use on its premises. Guests engaging in illegal activities may be reported to local authorities immediately.
  • I understand that disrespect towards Buddhist sites, symbols or monks is a criminal offence in Thailand.
  • I agree to comply with all public health directives and local curfews, if any.
  • I acknowledge that all alcohol consumption must comply with Thailand’s legal drinking age and hours.

  Australia

  • I acknowledge that all state and federal laws regarding the use and possession of substances apply, including strict rules on controlled substances. I agree not to bring or consume any illegal drugs on Mad Monkey premises, and any violation may be reported to local authorities.
  • I confirm that I am of legal age for alcohol consumption in Australia.
  • I agree to follow all local health and safety laws and building regulations while on Mad Monkey property.

  Laos

  • I acknowledge that drug offences in Laos carry severe penalties, including the death penalty. Mad Monkey staff are authorised to report any suspected illegal activity to local authorities without prior notice.
  • I am aware of the risks associated with illicitly produced alcohol, including methanol poisoning, and I will exercise caution with all beverages.
  • I agree to respect local customs and traditions, and to be mindful of my conduct in public spaces.

  • I acknowledge that Vietnam has extremely strict drug laws, with severe penalties including lengthy jail sentences and the death penalty for possession, use, production or trafficking of illegal drugs, including cannabis. Mad Monkey prohibits the use of illegal substances on its premises and staff are authorised to report any suspected illegal activity to local authorities without prior notice.
  • I agree to respect local customs, religious sensitivities and laws regarding public conduct.

Notes for guests

• These fines are standard across all Mad Monkey properties, shown in local currency.
• Fines cover cleaning fees and odour removal only. Additional repair costs or penalties may apply if there is property damage.
• For alcohol-related violations or property damage, separate charges apply depending on the actual cost of repairs or replacement.

By accessing, browsing, viewing or using any part of this Site, you signify your irrevocable consent and acceptance of these Terms without modification. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must refrain from using the Site.

Mad Monkey Hostels reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add or remove portions of these Terms at any time. All changes become effective immediately upon publication on the Site unless otherwise stated. Your continued use following the posting of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

This Site also helps you gather booking information and check availability for products and services offered by Mad Monkey Hostels and its partners. Different terms — cancellation policies, payment terms, specific rules of stay — may apply to individual booking products and are made available during the booking process. Where they conflict with these Terms, the specific booking terms prevail for that booking.

You warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, that you will only use the Site to make legitimate reservations for yourself or for others you are authorised to act for, and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

Unless otherwise stated, Mad Monkey Hostels and/or its licensors own the intellectual property rights in the website and its materials — text, graphics, logos, images, audio, video, data compilations and software. All such rights are reserved.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Site for personal, non-commercial use. This licence excludes resale or commercial use, collection of listings, descriptions or prices, derivative use, downloading or copying account information for another merchant, and any use of data mining, robots or similar extraction tools.

You are expressly prohibited from:

• Republishing material from this Site, including on another website.
• Selling, renting, leasing or sub-licensing material from the Site.
• Showing any material from the Site in public.
• Reproducing, duplicating, copying or otherwise exploiting material for any commercial purpose without our express written consent.
• Editing or otherwise modifying any material on the Site.
• Redistributing material, except content expressly made available for redistribution.

You must not use this website in any way that causes, or may cause, damage to the website or impairment of its availability or accessibility; or in any way that is unlawful, illegal, fraudulent or harmful, or connected with any unlawful, illegal, fraudulent or harmful purpose or activity.

You must not use this website to copy, store, host, transmit, send, use, publish or distribute any material consisting of (or linked to) spyware, computer viruses, Trojan horses, worms, keystroke loggers, rootkits or other malicious software.

You must not conduct systematic or automated data collection — scraping, data mining, extraction or harvesting — without our express written consent, transmit unsolicited commercial communications, or use the Site for marketing purposes without our express written consent.

You are responsible for keeping any user ID and password confidential, and for all activity that occurs under them.

Access to certain areas of this website is restricted, and Mad Monkey Hostels may restrict access to other areas, or the entire Site, at any time and for any reason. Where you are given a user ID and password you must keep them confidential and secure; they may be disabled at our sole discretion without notice or explanation, particularly where we suspect a breach of these Terms or of any applicable law.

“Your user content” means material — text, images, audio and audio-visual material — that you submit to this website for any purpose. You must not submit user content that is, or has ever been, the subject of any threatened or actual legal proceedings or similar complaints.

When you upload or post content you grant Mad Monkey a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable licence to use, reproduce, distribute, modify, adapt, publish, translate, prepare derivative works of and display that content, with or without attribution, in connection with the services and across different media without notice, including to promote the website and services. You also grant us the right to take legal action against infringement of those rights. To the extent possible you waive any moral rights in the content. Mad Monkey may remove any content at its sole discretion without notice.

Mad Monkey may edit or remove any material submitted to, stored on, hosted or published on this website, but does not undertake to monitor submissions or publication.

This website is provided “as is” without any representation or warranties, express or implied. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, Mad Monkey Hostels does not warrant that:

• This website will be constantly available, or available at all.
• The contents of this website are free from typographical mistakes or other errors.
• The information on this website is complete, true, accurate or non-misleading.

Nothing on this website constitutes advice of any kind. If you need legal, financial or medical advice, consult an appropriate professional. The provision of our website relies on the internet and on devices; we are not liable for losses caused by the website being unavailable due to events beyond our reasonable control, including internet, system or device instability, computer viruses and hacker attacks.

You are responsible for providing the equipment needed to access the website, for making anyone using your connection aware of these terms, and for your own virus protection. We do not guarantee that the website will be secure or free from bugs or viruses.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mad Monkey Hostels will not be liable to you (in contract, tort or otherwise) in relation to the contents of, or use of, or otherwise in connection with, this website. To the extent the website is provided free of charge, we are not liable for any direct loss, indirect, special or consequential loss, business losses, loss of revenue, income, profits or anticipated savings, loss of contracts or business relationships, loss of reputation or goodwill, or loss or corruption of information or data. These limitations apply even if we have been expressly advised of the potential loss.

To the extent permitted by law, Mad Monkey is not liable for loss or damage you incur as a result of:

• Incorrect details (name, ID details, nationality, contact details, payment details, dates and times) submitted when making your booking — including not being contactable about your booking, or being unable to use a booking product because your ID details do not match those provided.
• Your failure to obtain the correct documentation — passport, visa or proof of vaccinations — required for your booking product.
• Your failure to obtain appropriate travel insurance.
• Being unable to use a booking product because you did not comply with the supplier’s terms, did not arrive in time for check-in, boarding, passport control or security, or because your behaviour was deemed unacceptable by the supplier.
• Your discount card (such as a rail card) not being valid for the journey selected.
• Any bookings, including duplicate bookings, made by you in error.
• Fees charged by your account provider for international payments, alternative exchange rates, or exchange-rate changes between booking and payment.
• False, inaccurate, outdated or incomplete payment information provided by you.
• Use of any interactive area of the website in breach of our content standards.
• Events outside our control: acts of god, flood, drought, earthquake or other natural disaster; epidemic or pandemic; terrorist attack, war, commotion or riots; nuclear, chemical or biological contamination; any law or action by a government or public authority; and internet, system or device instability, computer viruses and hacker attacks.

We provide the website for private, non-commercial use only. You agree not to use it for commercial or business purposes, and we have no liability for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any warranty implied by law that it would be unlawful to exclude or limit, or excludes or limits liability for:

• Death or personal injury caused by Mad Monkey’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
• Any matter which it would be illegal or unlawful to exclude or limit, or to attempt to exclude or limit.

By using this website you agree that the exclusions and limitations of liability set out in this disclaimer are reasonable. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the website.

You accept that, as a limited liability entity, Mad Monkey Hostels has an interest in limiting the personal liability of its officers and employees, and you agree not to bring any claim personally against them in respect of losses connected with this website. The limitations of warranties and liability in this disclaimer also protect our officers, employees, agents, subsidiaries, successors, assigns and sub-contractors.

You indemnify Mad Monkey Hostels and undertake to keep us indemnified against any losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses (including legal expenses and any amount paid in settlement of a claim on the advice of our legal advisers) arising out of any breach by you of these terms, or any claim that you have breached them.

If you breach these terms or fail to comply with applicable laws or regulations, we may take whatever action we deem proper, including:

• Suspending your access to the website.
• Prohibiting you from accessing the website.
• Blocking computers using your IP address from accessing the website.
• Contacting your internet service provider to request that they block your access.
• Bringing court proceedings against you.

We also reserve the right to take any of the following actions at any time without prior notice: reject or cancel bookings associated with your name, email address or account; cancel or revoke any coins, coupons, incentives, promotional rewards or other benefits earned; issue a warning; disclose information to law enforcement where we reasonably feel it is necessary or required by law; and any other measures we deem appropriate at our sole discretion.

If we cancel your booking we may not provide an explanation where disclosing the reason would, at our sole discretion, violate applicable laws or hinder the detection or prevention of fraud or other illegal activity.

We may revise these terms from time to time. Revised terms apply from the date of publication on this website. Please check this page regularly. If you do not accept the changes, stop using the website and our services; continued use constitutes acceptance.

Mad Monkey Hostels may transfer, sub-contract or otherwise deal with our rights and obligations under these terms without notifying you or obtaining your consent. You may not.

If any provision of these terms is determined by a court or other competent authority to be unlawful or unenforceable, the other provisions continue in effect. If deleting part of a provision would make it lawful or enforceable, that part is deemed deleted and the rest continues in effect.

These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Mad Monkey Hostels in relation to your use of this website and relevant booking services, and supersede all previous agreements on that subject.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Singapore law, and disputes relating to them are subject to the (non-)exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore. This does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer rights under the law of the country where you are checking in.

During certain events at our hostels and on our tours we may capture your photo, image or video to promote and market the hostels and tours, and to update stakeholders, funders and partners. This content may appear in printed publications and digital channels including our websites and social platforms. We rely on our legitimate business interest in marketing as the legal basis for this processing.

All images and videos are managed by our marketing team. We record where they are used and may retain your image for up to ten (10) years.

If you do NOT wish to be photographed or recorded, or you see your image in something we have published, email dataprotection@madmonkeyhostels.com to opt out. Please give us enough detail to identify and remove your image.

If you are aware of photographers or videographers and do not want to appear in marketing material, it is your responsibility to remove yourself from the area or to tell the camera operator. Failing to do so may result in your inclusion, and will be treated as consent for Mad Monkey Hostels to use that photograph or recording at its sole discretion until consent is revoked under the opt-out above.

These general Terms apply to all booking services facilitated through our Site. Specific booking terms — detailed cancellation policies, payment terms and rules of stay — apply to each individual booking product and are presented for your acceptance during the booking process. Where they conflict with these general Terms, the specific booking terms govern that booking.

Definitions

• “Site” — the Mad Monkey Hostels website, including all content, functionality and services.
• “User”, “you”, “your” — any individual or entity accessing or using the Site.
• “Mad Monkey Hostels”, “we”, “us”, “our” — Mad Monkey Hostels and its affiliates.
• “Booking product” — any accommodation, tour or other service offered for booking on the Site.
• “Terms” — these Terms & Conditions of Use.

Governing language

These Terms may be translated for convenience. Where the English version and a translation conflict, the English version prevails.

Dispute resolution

We are committed to resolving disputes amicably. Before starting formal legal action, contact us using the details in section 02 so we can try to resolve it. If we cannot, any legal action relating to your use of the Site or these Terms shall be instituted in a court in Singapore, as set out in section 18. We may also consider mediation or arbitration for certain disputes at our discretion.

Discounts apply to dorm beds and private room bookings. Blackout dates apply and are subject to change without prior notice. Discounts are subject to availability at the time of booking, and a limited number of rooms may be allocated to a promotion. Discounts are non-transferable and have no cash value. Mad Monkey Hostels may amend, modify or discontinue an offer at any time without prior notice. In the event of a dispute, the decision of Mad Monkey Hostels is final.

The loyalty programme has its own terms — tiers, qualifying stays, perks, redemption and blackout dates — kept up to date on their own page.

A Trip is a fixed-date group departure hosted by an independent creator and operated by Mad Monkey.

Every Trip has:

• A published itinerary, start date and end date
• A maximum group size
• A minimum number of travellers required for the departure to run
• A per-person price based on shared dormitory accommodation

Itineraries are indicative, not guaranteed: “The itinerary published on a Trip page describes our intended plan. It is subject to change and availability and does not form part of the contract between you and us.”

You must be 18 or over on the date the Trip starts. We may ask for photo ID and can refuse check-in to anyone who cannot show they meet the age requirement. No refund is due.

Trips are physically active and involve travel by road, boat and ferry, and accommodation in shared dormitories. Tell us before booking if you have a medical condition, disability or reduced mobility that may affect your Trip.

If you book for more than one traveller, you accept these terms on their behalf and are responsible for all payments on the booking.

Book through the Mad Monkey Creator Trips website. Your booking is made when you pay your deposit and receive a booking confirmation email. Check your confirmation and tell us within 48 hours if anything is wrong.

Places are limited and allocated on a first-paid basis. Obvious errors in price or description do not bind us. You may accept the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.

Prices are shown per person in US Dollars (USD) and are based on shared dormitory accommodation unless stated otherwise.

You may be able to pay in your local currency at checkout. Currency conversion is handled by Stripe at their prevailing rate.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.

Deposit and instalments

• A deposit is taken at checkout to secure your place
• The balance is charged automatically to the same card in scheduled instalments
• Your dates and amounts are shown at checkout and in your confirmation email
• You authorise us to charge your card on those dates without contacting you again

Pay in full

• Pay the whole Trip at checkout and receive [10]% off the Trip price
• Applies to the Trip price only, not to optional extras

Missed payments: “If a scheduled payment fails we will email you and try again. If it is still outstanding [7] days after the due date, we may release your place and treat the booking as cancelled by you under Section 6. Payments already made are not refunded.”

Keep your card details current. An expired card is the most common reason a payment fails. Your balance must be settled in full before the Trip starts.

Definition of a “Confirmed Trip”: “A Trip becomes Confirmed when it reaches the minimum number of travellers shown on the Trip page. Until then the departure is provisional. Once Confirmed, you will receive a Trip Confirmed email and the cancellation terms in Section 6 apply.”

If the minimum is not met, we will cancel the departure and refund everything you have paid us, in full and automatically. We will tell you no later than [6 weeks] before the start date. We strongly recommend you do not book flights until you receive your Trip Confirmed email.

If you cancel

Cancel in writing to cs@madmonkeyhostels.com. Cancellation takes effect the day we receive it but can take a few days to process.

• Before the Trip is Confirmed: your deposit is refunded in full
• After the Trip is Confirmed: all payments made are non-refundable
• Remaining instalments stop immediately and no further payments are taken

We hold accommodation and activity bookings for you from the moment a Trip is Confirmed, which is why we cannot refund at that stage. This is what travel insurance is for.

Transferring your place

You may transfer your place to someone else if they meet the eligibility requirements in Section 2 and we can transfer the underlying bookings. No transfer fee applies. Ask us as early as you can. You and the person taking your place are jointly responsible for anything still owed.

If we change or cancel

Activities, accommodation and routing may be changed, substituted or cancelled due to weather, safety, local operating conditions, supplier availability or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. We will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative of a similar nature and value. Minor changes (a swapped activity, a reordered day, a changed time) do not entitle you to a refund.

If a Creator cancels or withdraws from a Trip, Mad Monkey is not obligated to provide a cash refund, even if the Trip itself is cancelled as a result. Mad Monkey reserves the right to cancel any Trip following a Creator withdrawal without triggering cash refund obligations.

If we make a significant change, or cancel for a reason other than minimum numbers, a Creator cancellation/withdrawal, or an event under Section 12, you may accept the change, transfer to another departure where available, or cancel for a full refund.

If you leave a Trip early, miss the start, or are removed under Section 10, no refund is due for the unused part.

Your Trip page lists what is included for that departure. As a general rule:

Included

• Accommodation at Mad Monkey locations, in mixed or female shared dormitories unless you have paid for an upgrade
• All internal group transport between locations, including ferries
• All tours and events listed in the itinerary
• Group coordination and bookings handled by our location teams

Not included

• International flights
• Airport pick-up and drop-off, unless stated on the Trip page
• Visas and any associated fees
• Travel insurance
• Meals, drinks and anything not listed in the itinerary

Everything in the itinerary is included in the price. Nothing is charged as an extra on the ground, though you are free to sit an activity out. No refund or credit is given for an activity you choose not to join.

The standard room type is a shared dormitory. Rooms are allocated by the location team on arrival. We cannot guarantee specific beds or that your group will be placed together, though we will always try.

Private room upgrades and extra nights, where offered, are booked and charged at checkout and are subject to availability. Extra nights before or after a Trip are a separate stay. They fall under the standard Mad Monkey hostel booking terms, not these Trip terms, and are not covered by Section 6.

Travel insurance is mandatory for every traveller on every Trip. Your policy must cover medical treatment, repatriation, and the activities on your itinerary, including water-based activities, trekking and any adventure sports listed.

We recommend a policy with Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) cover. Because payments are non-refundable once a Trip is Confirmed, CFAR is your main protection if you can no longer travel.

We may ask for your insurer and policy number before the Trip starts, and can decline to let you join without valid cover. No refund is due. Any medical or repatriation costs you incur are yours to meet.

You are responsible for holding a valid passport, all required visas and entry permits, and for meeting any health or vaccination requirements. Requirements differ by nationality and change without notice. Check with the relevant embassy and your government’s travel advice before you travel. We are not liable if you are refused entry, denied boarding or removed because your documentation is not in order, and no refund is due.

Trips are hosted by an independent creator. Your contract is with Mad Monkey, not with the host. The host travels with the group and helps set the tone, but does not organise or operate the Trip and cannot make commitments on our behalf.

If a host cannot travel we will tell you as soon as we know and will arrange a replacement or run the departure as planned. A change or cancellation of host is not a significant change under Section 6.

If a Creator cancels or withdraws from a Trip for any reason, Mad Monkey does not need to provide a cash refund and the Trip can be cancelled.

Group rules

“Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any Trip. Possessing or using drugs contravenes local law and puts the rest of the group at risk. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and our team has the right to remove any member of the group who breaks this.”

We may also remove you, or refuse to let you join, if your behaviour is likely to cause danger, distress, damage or serious disruption to others. If you are removed, our responsibility to you ends immediately. You cover your own onward arrangements, no refund is due, and we will not meet any expenses arising.

You are responsible for any damage or loss you cause, and agree to meet those costs at the time. Local laws apply to you throughout. Please follow the reasonable instructions of our teams and local guides, particularly on safety.

Trips include activities such as boat travel, snorkelling, surfing, trekking and quad biking, which carry inherent risk even when properly run. By booking, you accept those risks and confirm you are in good enough health to take part.

Many activities are run by independent local suppliers under their own safety rules and conditions. Follow all safety briefings and instructions and use the equipment provided. Our teams and suppliers may stop you taking part where they reasonably believe it is unsafe, including because of weather, conditions, your health, or alcohol.

We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control. These include war and civil unrest, terrorism, epidemic or pandemic, natural disaster, fire, adverse weather, port and airport closures, industrial action, government or border restrictions, and the acts of any authority. Where such an event affects your Trip we will tell you as soon as we can and set out your options.

Trips are filmed and photographed throughout. Your host, our team and other travellers will be capturing content, which is likely to be published on social media and used in Mad Monkey marketing.

By booking, you agree that we and your host may take photographs and video that include you, and may use, publish and share that material for marketing purposes without payment, in any format and territory.

If you would prefer not to appear, tell your host and the location team at the start and we will do our best to keep you out of published content. To request removal of something already published, email cs@madmonkeyhostels.com.

If something goes wrong during your Trip, raise it straight away with your host or the location team. Most things can be put right on the spot.

If it is not resolved, write to cs@madmonkeyhostels.com within [28] days of the Trip ending, with your booking reference and full detail. We will respond within [28] days.

Participation in a Trip is subject to Mad Monkey’s Privacy Policy. We collect the details you give us at booking, including names, contact details, emergency contacts, and any dietary, accessibility or medical information you share, in order to run your Trip.

We share what is necessary with accommodation, transport and activity suppliers, and with your host where relevant. We do not sell your personal data. By booking, you consent to receive operational and Trip-related communications by email and SMS.

This is the part our lawyers make us include. In short: your contract is with Mad Monkey and not with your host, our responsibility to you is limited to what you have paid us for the Trip, we can’t cover costs you book separately such as flights or visas, and these terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Where an activity is run by an independent supplier, that supplier’s own terms apply to it.

An ALL IN Trip is a curated departure designed for both group and solo travellers, operated directly by Mad Monkey.

Every Trip includes:

• A published itinerary, start date, and end date
• A maximum group size
• A minimum number of travellers required for group departures
• A per-person price based on standard shared dormitory accommodation (unless an upgrade is selected)

Itineraries are indicative, not guaranteed: “The itinerary published on an ALL IN Trip page describes our intended plan. It is subject to change and availability and does not form part of the contract between you and us.”

You must be 18 years or older on the date the Trip starts. We reserve the right to request valid photo ID at check-in and will refuse entry to anyone who cannot verify their age. In such cases, no refund is due.

Trips are physically active and involve travel by road, boat, and ferry, as well as shared dormitory accommodation. Please notify us prior to booking if you have a medical condition, disability, or reduced mobility that may impact your ability to participate. If you make a booking on behalf of multiple travellers, you accept these terms on their behalf and assume full responsibility for all payments on the account.

Bookings are made through the official Mad Monkey website. Your spot is confirmed once your deposit has been processed and a booking confirmation email has been issued.

Please review your confirmation email carefully and notify us within 48 hours if any details are incorrect. Places are limited and allocated on a first-paid basis. Obvious pricing errors or description mistakes do not bind us; in such instances, you will have the option to pay the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.

Prices are listed per person in US Dollars (USD) and are based on shared dormitory accommodation unless stated otherwise. Currency conversion at checkout is processed via Stripe at prevailing rates.

Payment schedule and authorisation

• Deposit: A $99 USD deposit is required at checkout to secure your spot
• Balance payment: The remaining balance is automatically charged to the same payment card used for the deposit 7 days before your scheduled departure date
• Short-notice bookings: If you book a Trip where the departure date is less than 7 days away, the remaining balance will be automatically charged immediately following your deposit
• Card authorisation: By booking, you authorise Mad Monkey to automatically charge your card on the balance due date without requiring additional notification

Failed payments

If an automatic payment fails, we will attempt to contact you by email to retry the transaction. If your balance remains unpaid within 48 hours of the due date (or prior to departure), we reserve the right to release your spot and treat your booking as cancelled by you under Section 6. Payments already made up to that point are non-refundable.

Please ensure your payment card details remain valid and up to date.

There’s no minimum group size, so a trip is guaranteed to go ahead. However, if there are fewer than 5 travellers on your departure 10 days before you leave:

10-day notice window: At 10 days before departure, the Mad Monkey team will review total participant numbers.

If a Trip has fewer than 5 participants, we will contact you directly to inform you. You will have the choice to:

• Cancel your spot and receive a 100% full refund of all money paid (including your deposit)
• Keep your booking and run the trip anyway! While group numbers may be smaller, we strongly recommend going. You will still get the full Mad Monkey itinerary and meet awesome people at our hostels along the way

If you choose to cancel under these specific minimum-number conditions, your refund will be processed automatically back to your original payment method.

If you cancel

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to cs@madmonkeyhostels.com.

• More than 10 days before departure (or prior to group confirmation): You may cancel your spot, but the $99 deposit remains non-refundable (unless Section 5 applies)
• Within 7–10 days before departure: Any balances paid beyond the deposit are non-refundable, and scheduled automatic payments will still apply unless cancelled under Section 5
• Within 7 days of departure (once the balance is taken): All payments made (deposit and balance) are 100% non-refundable

We hold non-refundable accommodation, transport, and activity allocations on your behalf well in advance, which is why refunds cannot be issued close to departure. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance.

Transferring your spot

You may transfer your booking to another person at no extra cost, provided:

• They meet all eligibility criteria in Section 2
• We are able to update the underlying transport and accommodation bookings
• You notify us as early as possible before departure
• You and the replacement traveller remain jointly responsible for any outstanding balances

If we change or cancel

Itineraries, transport routes, activities, and accommodation are subject to adjustment due to weather, local operational requirements, safety concerns, or supplier availability. We will make reasonable efforts to offer comparable alternatives. Minor adjustments (such as swapped daily activities or reordered schedules) do not entitle you to a refund.

If we make a major change or cancel a departure entirely for reasons other than force majeure (Section 12), you may accept the revised itinerary, transfer to another departure date, or cancel for a full refund.

No refunds or credits are issued if you leave a Trip early, arrive late, or miss scheduled activities.

Each ALL IN Trip landing page lists the exact inclusions for that destination.

Typically included

• Accommodation at Mad Monkey host locations (shared dormitories, unless an upgrade is purchased)
• Internal group transport between destinations as specified in the itinerary (busses, ferries, boats)
• Excursions, tours, and activities explicitly listed in the itinerary
• On-the-ground support and group coordination from our Mad Monkey team

Not included

• International flights and travel to the starting hostel
• Airport transfers (unless explicitly stated on the Trip page)
• Visas, entry fees, and travel documentation
• Travel insurance
• Personal meals, drinks, and incidentals not detailed in the itinerary

All scheduled group activities are included in the price. Participation is voluntary, but no partial refunds or credits will be provided if you choose to opt out of an activity.

Standard accommodation is provided in shared mixed or female-only dormitories. Room allocations are handled on arrival by local hostel teams. While we attempt to keep groups together, specific bed assignments cannot be guaranteed.

Private room upgrades or extra nights booked before or after your Trip are subject to availability and separate charges. Extra night stays fall under standard Mad Monkey Hostel booking policies rather than these ALL IN Trip terms.

Travel insurance (mandatory)

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all travellers on ALL IN Trips.

• Your policy must cover emergency medical care, hospitalization, repatriation, and all activities featured in your itinerary (e.g., boat trips, water sports, trekking)
• We strongly advise purchasing a policy with Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage to safeguard your booking fees against unexpected personal emergencies
• We reserve the right to request proof of insurance prior to departure and may deny participation without a refund if adequate coverage is not provided

Visas and passports

You are solely responsible for ensuring your passport is valid (typically at least 6 months validity beyond your travel date) and that you hold all required visas, permits, and health entry requirements. Mad Monkey accepts no liability if you are denied entry or transport due to improper documentation.

To ensure a safe and memorable experience for everyone, all travellers are expected to adhere to Mad Monkey’s community standards.

Zero tolerance drug policy: Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited on all Mad Monkey Trips. Possessing or using illegal substances violates local laws and endangers the entire group.

Our team reserves the right to immediately remove any guest from a Trip who:

• Violates local drug laws or regulations
• Engages in abusive, dangerous, threatening, or severely disruptive behaviour toward staff, local guides, or fellow travellers
• Endangers the safety of themselves or others

If you are removed from a Trip, our obligations to you cease immediately. You will be responsible for all return transport and costs incurred; no refunds or compensation will be provided. You are financially responsible for any property damage caused during your stay.

ALL IN Trips involve dynamic physical activities including, but not limited to, boat rides, swimming, trekking, snorkelling, and off-road travel.

By booking, you acknowledge that these activities carry inherent risks. You agree to follow all safety instructions provided by Mad Monkey staff and external activity partners. Our teams reserve the right to prevent you from participating in an activity if weather conditions, health concerns, or alcohol consumption make it unsafe.

Mad Monkey is not liable for failures, delays, or cancellations resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather conditions, acts of government, border closures, civil unrest, health emergencies, or transport disruptions. In such events, we will work to adjust itineraries or offer alternative arrangements where feasible.

During ALL IN Trips, Mad Monkey staff and fellow travellers may take photos and video content. By participating, you grant Mad Monkey permission to use photography and footage featuring you for marketing, social media, and promotional purposes across all global channels without financial compensation.

If you prefer not to appear in promotional media, please inform the team at the beginning of your trip. To request the removal of published media featuring you, please email cs@madmonkeyhostels.com.

If an issue arises during your trip, please inform your local Mad Monkey team or hostel manager immediately so we can resolve it on the spot.

If a matter remains unresolved, please send a written summary along with your booking confirmation number to cs@madmonkeyhostels.com within 28 days of your Trip’s end date.

We collect personal details (such as contact information, emergency contacts, and relevant medical/dietary requirements) solely to operate your booking. Relevant details are shared with transport providers and local activity suppliers as required. Personal data is managed in accordance with the Mad Monkey Privacy Policy and is never sold to third parties.

Governing law

Your contract is with Mad Monkey. Our total liability to you is limited to the total fees paid directly to us for the Trip. We are not liable for external arrangements made independently, such as flight tickets or visa fees. These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
